Cutomer Service Roll Call. Marked Absent
Thursday, July 9th, 2009Those of you who follow me on twitter may have seen this last night. But I just felt it was too good not to send along in the T4D today. Last night Rebecca and I were doing a bit of shopping after a dinner date…and I couldn’t help but notice the dicotomy suggested by this abandoned service desk. The picture offers a symbol of what’s gone wrong with customer service.
My Twitter post said : “Much has been said about the many diminishing dimensions of Customer Service but I think this picture says it all.”

Someone once said, “Customer service is not a department, it’s an attitude!” At this store it wasn’t either one!
A desk and a sign, or a cubible and a phone, or a fancy PBX with a cool IVR and a recorded message doesn’t equal customer service.  It takes people to serve. ~ Kirk
