I love how Google celebrates holidays on thier site..
A young man in church yesterday was asked to prepare a 5 minute talk to honor moms on Mothers Day. His name is Giordano and he did a great job… I asked him for a copy of it. Here it is.
Good Morning, Happy Mother’s Day! My talk today is on how life is hard for Mother’s.
Raising boys is hard for Mom’s
When she has a baby boy she will lose sleep…this will never get better!
She will trip over action heroes, get ran over by remote control cars, avoid stepping on balls and will step on Lego pieces in the middle of the night.
She will worry about poisonous plants, and bugs.
She will have to hold down a screaming child so doctors can give shots.
Her knowledge of first aid increases everyday and this includes hospital visits.
Her personal contact with small reptiles found in the bathtub… is required.
She will learn the difference between softball and baseball.
She will try not to yell too loud at your coach and referee during your games.
She will discover that a football game looks just like play time at home.
She has a complete knowledge of your closet so she can tell you exactly where your tie is at the very last minute.
She doesn’t get surprised when you have new grass stains or holes in your jeans.
She gave up wondering why you can’t hear her call your name for chores but you CAN hear her perfectly when it ‘s dinner time.
She understands that grunts and nodding of your head is considered good communication skills with teenage boys.
Pizza Delivery takes on a whole new meaning when friends arrive for dinner.
She helps you understand what girls think and then laughs later at your questions.
She makes every memory from your past seem like it was yesterday especially the ones that hurt her in some way. Example: birth.
She doesn’t  freak when a new dent is added to the car..even if you don’t have a license yet.
She points out cool cars and tolerates your very loud music.
She even will give you cash when you were told “No” by your Dad. This is usually followed by “Don’t tell your father.”
She will teach you how to drive to lessen the chances of your father having a heart attack.
She will even tolerate musical instruments played off key for years!
She will drive you anywhere to get a little piece and quiet or less attitude.
She knows you have a cell phone and uploaded a GPS system to track you down.
In Scouting, she helped with all your merit badges since you were 11 years old. However, she can’t figure out why you can’t get the Eagle done on your own.
Yes, life of a Mom for boys is hard!
Life is even worst if you are the Mother of Girls!
The very first trial of a new mom is how to get the hair bow to stay in place when there is no hair. Glue, I guess.
She buys all your clothes…this is a lot of pink and purple outfits!
She tries to keep you in the latest fashion…and yet she is still wearing her old dresses from 10 years ago.
She has to care about every thing you say and do even if told a couple of times.
She doesn’t freak too much when you try to dress yourself and find your style.
She plans all your overnight and makeup parties.
She knows how to change the subject and get you back on track.
She loves to listen to you but wishes you would listen to her once in a while.
She makes desserts in fun colors and understands what a tea party means.
She has talent to share and yet understands when you are too busy to learn.
She will adopt all your friends and let them call her Mom.
She will listen to every heart ache and wipe every tear.
She will make everyday sunny and bright even if it isn’t going to be.
She will convince your father to teach you how to drive by calling this bonding time!
She will drive you anywhere even drag you to the Mall.
She will even let you stay up late if you share with her some hot chocolate with marshmallows.
She will bring you a blanket when you are not feeling well.
She will help you find the money for the new latest fashion outfit.
She knows the difference between every mood swing and can explain it to your father who is wondering what happened now.
She knows that Dots and Calvin Klein are not the same type of fashion.
She will keep your secrets and listen to your dreams.
She will find your lost earring; only to have you say you don’t need it.
She will tell you…”you’re grounded for life” and then sneak you out to the movies.
She will make sure you have money to call even though you carry a cell phone.
She will lose sleep just to make sure you’re home safe from a date.
And she will stay up just to hear how it went and laugh or cry in the right spots.
She understands that the “flavor of the week” doesn’t reference ice cream.
She prays everyday that your dreams will come true!
She will give you her blessing by saying, “I hope you get a daughter just like you!”
Yes, Life of a mom for girls is hard too! I now understand why my mom didn’t have any!
And if you are a Mother of both…WOW! I love my Mother.  ( I found out later that his Mom Sheila wrote it… truly - Moms can do anything!)
Here’s a recent picture of my Mom holding my youngest daughter Ashlyn Eve. My Mom raised me as one of 3 boys… and like many of your Mothers… she put up with a lot, and always put her kids needs ahead of her own the way great Moms do. Thanks Mom… you were the first to teach me about leadership.Â
