Challenging Powerful Reactions
“Because power generates such resistance in people and provokes them into challenging leaders who use it, it is understandable why leaders must spend a great deal of time and effort dealing with such reactions.”

As outrageous as it is, leadership is far more challenging than management as it is the leaders who are the enablers of the managers to goad the teams on to achieve greater goals. It goes to the basic functionality of management and essentially reminds us that actual management is merely a higher level of line work and true direction, purpose and movement of organizations and teams comes from outstanding, out of the box leadership.

Some of the best leaders I’ve ever had have walked next to me, never been in front of me or behind me. They’ve never had to crack a whip or goad at all. They’ve lead by example and not been scared to be next to their employees in the trenches or get their hands dirty. I love that! Respect it immensely! Motivates me and makes me want to work that much harder and better.
