Bruce Lee and a “Renaissance of Wonder”
Just watched a movie with my sons called “The Forbidden Kingdom” with Jackie Chan and Jet Li this week. It was terrificly entertaining. So that is my justification for the first part of todays “Thought 4 the Day”.
“Defeat is a state of mind. No one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as reality. To me, defeat in anything is merely temporary, and its punishment is but an urge for me to greater effort to achieve my goal. Defeat simply tells me that something is wrong in my doing; it is a path leading to success and truth.” ~ Bruce Lee
This quote was sent to me this week… and I really really like it.
We need a renaissance of wonder. We need to renew, in our hearts and in our souls, the deathless dream, the eternal poetry, the perennial sense that life is miracle and magic. — E. Merrill Root (1895-1973) American Writer
Somewhere between “life is a miracle” and “life is what you make it” is a space where our decisions and divine nature allow us to participate in the process of creation and become the makers of miracles.  ~ Kirk Weisler (Hey, I said that?)Â

I used to snicker at my runner friends when they reported a new “personal record/best.” To me that was just another way to admit they lost a race. I have come to realize life is a series of personal bests. Being the best one can be doesn’t mean being better than everyone else. Striving to constantly improve oneself is a never ending marathon.

John, I couldn’t have said it better myself!
